On Memorial Day 2005, the friends and family of Moped Depot shined up their mopeds and prepared to participate in the Edinburg parade for the second year in a row. Looking at the sky and praying for it to remain dry, we started our fuel-friendly machines. As the sound of eight two-cycle engines filled the air, we swarmed to find our place in the parade lineup. Talking with bystanders and posing for photos, we divided up the candy we were to throw. When the group ahead of us started marching, we revved up our engines and started out. The three-year-old daughter of Moped Depot's mechanic was seated in the back of a blue Tomos trike moped. With her hair blowing in the wind, she tossed candy to wide-eyed children. As we idled down Route 18 and turned onto Route 44, the loud speaker announced "Next in line is Moped Depot." We all buzzed and beeped our horns until we passed our storefront, also located on Route 14. I enjoyed watching the adults smile as they reminisced about their first moped ride. It was sad when we reached the end of the parade route and had to turn around. All in all, a great parade experience! We made it through, tossed all of our candy, and didn't get rained on! Here's to Memorial Day 2006.
